Top 5 Cycling Destinations in Europe
- The Dolomites, Italy

The Dolomites are in my opinion the most beautiful mountains in the Alps. If you love climbing and the mountains, the Dolomites are the best place in the world to ride your bike. The local food, wine, and hotels are also world-class in the Dolomites.
Some standout Passes in the Dolomites include the following:
- The Famous Sella Ronda Loop: Passo Campolongo, Passo Pordoi, Passo Sella, Passo Gardena
- Passo Giau
- Tre Cime de Lavaredo
- Passo Fedaia
- Passo Falzarego
The Sella Ronda Loop is without a doubt my favorite ride in Europe. It should be experienced at least once by every cyclist. The ride includes the 4 Passes mentioned above, and is around 42 miles / 68km long and 6211ft / 1896m of elevation gain.
If you are more ambitious, the Maratona Dolomites Grand Fondo Event also takes place in July every year. The event offers courses for just about everyone with 55km all the way up to 138km covering all the most famous Passes in the Dolomites. The roads are closed to all cars during the Maratona, so cyclists can ride stress free.
